I’m Shannon, the founder and writer behind Near the Noise.

I’ve always loved music, but over the past year I’ve been making a conscious effort to get more involved in the Irish scene - going to more gigs, discovering local artists, and paying attention to what’s happening beyond the bigger stages.

Near the Noise is my way of documenting all of it. I can’t wait to highlight new artists and share the moments that make a gig feel special.

The photography on Near the Noise is mostly by Taylor - my best friend who may have been very slightly recruited against her will. Her work gives the blog its visual identity and brings the live music experience to life.

Lately, I’ve also been taking some photos myself, and occasionally we feature images from other talented photographers - with credit disclosed.

It’s fun having a mix of perspectives - it captures the energy of gigs and the Irish music scene in the way that feels most real to us.
